Discover the Before & After of Philippe’s kitchen !

How did your project start?

The nature of this project was a complete redesign of our kitchen through a uniformity with the current living room (realized by our architect Marianne, a few years ago). This project was first conceived to improve the continuity of the space entrance-stay-kitchen in a more contemporary spirit. This project began with the idea of replacing a rather old-fashioned white tile (with a low-temperature heating requirement by the floor) with a tile that would take on the attributes of an oak type parquet floor (light) and offer the new kitchen a more pleasant living space. You will find attached some pictures of the old kitchen, installed about fifteen years ago when the house was built.

What work did you do?

Most of the work consisted of a complete refurbishment of the kitchen area on the basis of parquet floor tiles. The whole kitchen has been redesigned “from scratch”: layout, fittings, electricity, plumbing and paintings on the basis of several scenarios based on a very collective cooperation between Marianne and my wife (I was only an admiring observer 😉 – the choice of paintings and colours of the kitchen have been very worked to explore different alternatives in the proportions of white, black and oak. The choice of materials was also crucial to homogenize the heat of the space.

How has HomeByMe helped you in your project?

The use of HomeByMe has been crucial in the choice of layouts and colours. The rendering of the realistic images really allowed to put in situation the communication of the living room and the kitchen space, even if it is always difficult to realize that the realistic images would be as much 😉 – It was only after the realisation of this project that we realised the emotional impact that the synthetic images of HomeByMe could have.

However, if we had to make a comment on the use of HomeByMe, we find that it applies more to creation from a blank sheet of paper, favouring inspiration from a very large library of objects; than in a more constrained space where customization becomes an unavoidable and necessary variable. As soon as made-to-measure becomes dominant, it is more difficult to conform more finely to the constraints of manufacture and practicality of the kitchen space: I would say here that it is from this moment that the work of the architecture becomes priceless!
The work of the craftsmen supervised by Marianne is also remarkable.

Discover the Before & After of Victoria’s house !

How did your project start?

At first, we hesitated between building and property in need of renovation. However, in the city where we live and despite our research we did not have an impulse buy. We wanted to avoid nasty surprises by purchasing a house quickly. Therefore, we have decided to build our own house. We visited several grounds but there were too small. My brother learnt of a big ground that was not yet sold and close to our workplaces. The only disadvantage is the fact that the ground was in length. It was difficult for me to imagine how to convert this ground. Continue Reading

Discover the Before & After of a 70s house!

How did your project start?

We were looking for buying a house with no renovation to do but we were not looking for a new house.

One day, we have seen a house, which does not fit exactly with what we wanted. But we don’t know why, we wanted to visit this house.

We discovered a house from the 70s, with an old-fashioned tapestry very far from what we like. However, when we came in the house, we have instantly imagined live here. We were ready to do renovation for this house without to know that sometime later we will break down all the walls.

What work did you do?

We have destroyed brick walls in the house to insulate with a glass wool, then we have covered walls with plasterboard. We have done all the insulation in the house and in our attic, we have also added a new bay window. We have painted all the walls, electricity and plumbing, bathroom and WC are refurbished

How has HomeByMe helped you in your project?

HomeByMe was very useful for us in our project, especially between our first visit of this house and when the keys were handed over. HomeByMe has enabled us to anticipate the renovation, to change, to modify and to confirm our ideas and to draw up our quotes thanks to the real sizes. And today, it’s a true pleasure to see that our project looks line for line to our 3D project. We have to create new rooms in our home and of course HomeByMe will be present
