CAMPESTRE, by yenigiraldo214, is the winner of the January Homebyme project of the month contest! It uses sturdy industrial concrete walls to create a massive interior space filled with bright natural light, the warmth of wood and energetic, hot colors. Huge expanses of glass and inviting seating make it the next best thing to having a high fashion front porch. You can spend hours just watching city life while enjoying all the comforts of being inside.
The view from the outside looking in is just as fantastic. You can appreciate the spaces and have a little entertainment as you shop or just stroll by. It’s a bit like the zoo. Who’s looking at whom?
Entering through the front door we are immediately in the best part of the home. The soaring ceiling, dramatic stairway and a great mix of colors and textures all blend together into one great feeling!
You better be paying attention as you head up the cantilevered stairs. They lead up to a loft constructed using massive raw lumber slabs. You’ll get a panoramic view of the space as you go up or down.
The loft is spacious and only necessary furniture is included. Except the swing seat that would be simply awesome to sit in. Just imagine what the view will be like when you look out those huge front windows.
Plan views show the layouts of the main floor and then the loft. We entered at the yellow arrow. You can easily see the private areas which are out of sight in the back. There’s plenty of space for the laundry room and bathroom.
Back downstairs and looking outside you’ll be dazzled by the stunning view.
The industrial concrete contrasts nicely with the natural stone, generous wood surfaces and the gorgeous ceiling in the kitchen and counter dining areas. The window over the sink lets in more natural light to keep everything bright and cheerful.
Another, even bigger, window on the opposite wall lets in more light, as needed, over seating for another three lucky people at the long counter. The space under the stairs is used effectively for both display and as a source of books to enjoy.
A single, simple candelabra adds a whimsical, elegant touch. Glass front top cabinets keep the feeling of openness and space. The laundry room and bathroom are accessed through the door on the back wall.
This is an interesting arrangement of the laundry. The front loading washer is above and the drying rack is below.
The full height space has windows at the top for the laundry room and bathroom. More natural stone adds another texture and set of colors. The shower area is behind you. The complete bathroom is a good size.
Back out in the main area, the chef’s view is beautiful and the kitchen feels like a special sheltered area for culinary creativity.
After our tour it’s time to simply relax and enjoy the ever-changing view!
