The Winning February project of the month was created by CarolinaIsabel! Congratulations! These large, light-filled spaces are home for a family of six with extra room for a visitor or two. Yellow pops of color add the sparkle to a full palette of whites, grays and blacks. As we take a look around be sure to say ‘hello’ to everyone.
Let’s take a quick look at the floor plan to get an idea of where things are. The entrance (at the blue arrow) is large and welcoming, especially with the sunshine streaming in from the floor to ceiling windows in the computer room. An open plan includes the living and dining spaces with the kitchen. A special treat is the separate atrium for relaxing and enjoying the sun.
Stairs are to the right as you enter, along with a coat holder and a bench for a comfortable change of shoes. A mirror on the left wall gives a quick chance to check your appearance and a bathroom is handy too.
Looking out from the computer room gives a great view of the bright accent wall and stairway with even more bright light spilling down from the floor above.
Living a digital life is made easier for everyone by having a big space dedicated to computers and other electronics. It looks like a great place to learn, work and have plenty of fun too.
Continuing into the living room, CarolinaIsabel shows an appreciation for comfort and entertainment. Tall storage units help define the living space and visually separate the living room from the kitchen.
Looking back we can see what all the wood is for. A robust wood stove helps keep everyone warm, rain or shine.
A casual feeling is maintained in the dining area that’s big enough for the whole family at one time or as the center point for a party.
The kitchen has been kept simple and easy to use. Open shelving and base cabinet units without upper cabinets help make the most of the space.
An atrium is great for the plants and also for the family to relax in and soak up some sun.
The top floor is focused on personal spaces, each with its own generous amount of natural light. Each of the four bedrooms has its own bathroom, which will surely help keep the family’s activities harmonious.
The rounded wall is an excellent feature. It helps give some privacy further down the hall and also makes the stair landing into a room for a relaxing moment. A long wall mirror accentuates the space and the large plant which adds natural colors and textures.
Each bedroom has a signature color to make it a special place. Simple white furnishings keep the rooms fresh and always leads your eyes to the great view.
Bunk beds are fantastic for providing extra room. They’re valuable for this good-sized family.
All of the bathrooms are similar in their use of contrasting black and white walls and dark gray floor tiles, combined with metal fixture details to catch the reflections.
The ‘red’ room shares a bump out in the floor plan with the ‘blue’ room. Both enjoy an expanded view because of it.
This orange bedroom will wake you up and get you going in a hurry! That bright note wraps up our tour of this home that practically glows with light. What a wonderful home it is!
Please remember that every project creator has the option to continue developing any of their projects. When you go to a linked project it may be different than at the time the images above were created. Creativity continues, regardless of the clock!
Now it’s your turn!
