When you dream, make sure you dream big, like photosecosse did. Her project, American Dream #2B is the winner of the February HomeByMe Project of the Month! Congratulations! The floor plan covers almost 9,000 square feet (875 square meters) and a total of 39 rooms spread over two floors. Even though this is a giant home, her project is one of the most detailed projects ever created on HomeByMe. This virtual tour is going to take awhile, so sit back and enjoy the trip. There are plenty of places to rest if you get tired.
A map would be a good place to start, especially since we could get lost. We started above in the warm and welcoming great room and will wander from there.
The large wood timber structures give a sense of security and makes it easy to have big wide-open spaces. With a fire crackling in the fireplace, there are numerous places to sit and enjoy family and guests. You can easily find a good book and relax into the pillows in the nook under the stairs.
On one side of the great room is the enormous dining room with spacious seating for ten. Notice how every room is filled with the details that make a house a true home. Using a vivid color on the back wall adds to the drama of the space.
As you might expect, the kitchen is right next to the dining room and has stools for smaller groups of up to five for less formal occasions and for breakfast, of course.
Even when you’re doing the food preparations you can be part of the action due to the wide-open plan. Always remember where the kitchen is – we may need it later for some snacks to help keep our energy up. There is also a bathroom and a laundry room to the right off of the kitchen.
The master suite is conveniently located next to the dining room and kitchen. A nice foyer and dressing room help isolate the suite from the hustle and bustle outside. The master bedroom is beautiful, comfortable and relaxing.
A gigantic master bath includes all of the luxurious necessities – even a free-standing porcelain over iron bathtub for a long, soothing soak.
A slightly smaller and cozier living room is on the other side of the great room. You can see the entry foyer just beyond the double glass doors. In the foyer itself, the mudroom and three-car garage are to the left and a bedroom and bathroom are to the right.
To the left off of the living room is a large office with room for three to work or play.
This bedroom is tucked in near the front doors with bunk beds for the young (and young at heart) with a bathroom close by.
To continue our visit let’s head upstairs where another map might help. As you can see this is a ongoing project. There is plenty of room for whatever else photosecosse may add to her dreamhouse.
Going up the stairs gives a fantastic view of the great room and the enormous open space that gives the whole home a sense of roominess. The dining room is to the left and the living room is on the right.
Once you’re upstairs, you can move around for an even better view. Just imagine all that could be happening during a full-on gathering.
The upstairs “great room” is a bit more informal, but your needs are still easily attended to.
As you would expect, there are more bedrooms upstairs including this one with a decor on the adventurous side.
Another large bathroom is close at hand.
And finally, for now, another bedroom in a more playful mood.
Wow! This is a beautiful home – worthy of every minute of dreaming that it took to imagine it and all the hours of work to bring it to life. Great work photosecosse!
Now it’s your turn!
For future reference, here are some basic things that we consider as we make our choice each month. We’re always looking for interesting and original solutions to age-old problems, good space planning, that special touch of excellent design, some sparkle from a good use of colors and textures. And to tie it all together, enough detailing with accessories to show that the whole design has been worked on keeping fun and practical results in mind.
